LANGUAGE AND CULTURE - MOntrÉal

OVERVIEW

Eli Camps is dedicated to building and delivering high quality programs and camps for children and teenagers from around the world in the city of Montréal. The program is focused on language courses, cultural trips and visits to attractions. The program is build having in mind juniors ages 12-13 and seniors of 14-17. The programs we offer are all inclusive in nature and we take care of the students from the moment they land at the airport to the moment they leave the city.

We offer the programs in different formats. For our summer camps, we offer residential/live-on-campus option,  and day only options for those that arrange their own accommodation or have family in the city.

Language component for  juniors (12-13)

Our English and French program is a combination of in-class lessons plus school trips. It is composed of 15 lessons of language instruction per week. All our teachers are certified to teach English and/or French in Canada. Our average class size of regular classes is of 15 students.  There are 5 different levels of English classes in our program from beginner to advanced. Practical, hands-on and activity-based learning are some characteristics of the language component of this program.

All students are required to enter a test the first Monday of their stay with us. The test is both written and spoken. When assigning students to their level we take into consideration three main criteria: language proficiency, nationality and age.

The program consists of 3 classes a day from Monday to Friday. There are also daily school trips connected to the language classes. These are important, age appropriate and give students a unique opportunity to live what they learn.

Language component for seniors (14-17)

The Language Program is offered in French and English and  is composed of 20 lessons of language instruction per week. All our teachers are certified to teach French/English in Canada. Our average class size  is of 15 students.  There are 5 different levels of language classes in our program from beginner to advanced.

All students are required to enter a test the first Monday of their stay with us. The test is both written and spoken. When assigning students to their level we take into consideration three main criteria: language proficiency, nationality and age.

The program consists of 4 classes a day from Monday to Friday. The first 3 regular classes focus on grammar, listening/speaking and reading/writing. The 4th class is an elective class that focuses more on the practical side of the language. The classes offered at the program are Journalism and Debate Clubs (based on UN style)

Journalism

Students will get to learn the basics of writing articles and the appropriate way to do that. At the program we have a weekly newsletter that is distributed to students, parents and agencies with schedules, stories from students etc. They will be working on a daily basis to do that, together with their teacher.

Debates Style

These are organized debates based on interesting topics like the UN sustainable goals https://sdgs.un.org/goals It gets student to think, organize, talk and debate. An amazing way to practice English

Trips

After school trips and excursion are a very important component of both program. They showcase our city and all it has to offer. Its diversity, beauty and uniqueness. We show students every corner of the city, every neighbourhood. A true cultural component. We call it exploring! We lead it, you enjoy it.
